One of the angels

Dear Friends and Family,
This afternoon at 4:25pm we let our beloved Aaron end his all too short stay here in this world.

There was no improvement overnight, and all signs pointed to several key organs not functioning.
As we had asked, Aaron told us what he needed and we were grateful for the clear sign.
We were given the most caring guidance and assistance by the incredible team of doctors, nurses and social worker at Children’s Hospital.

He passed peacefully and surrounded by love, without struggle or pain.
After his support was removed, his strong heart beat for over an hour as we held him, warm and swaddled.
He gave us time to say goodbye and to express our love for him, as well as the love of so many people who were thinking of and praying for him.

Your love and support has sustained us through the past 8 days, and we will always be grateful.
We feel an emptiness without him but at the same time feel fuller and richer for having had him with us for this short time.

We miss our tough, beautiful little boy with all of our hearts, but we believe that God is taking care of him for us and that we’ll see him again.

Love,
Dan and Leah

On Monday, Alison was playing around on the piano and all of a sudden we heard her playing this song.  It was a combination of broken chords and rhythm that she had made up, and it sounded so nice.  While at Children's Hospital yesterday, we played this video of the song for Aaron. It somehow felt like it had been written for him.  We think that Alison will like that her baby brother got to hear it.

Daniel and Leah, I am so sorry for your loss. I really don't know what to say. I'm sending hugs to you all, and you'll remain in my prayers during this difficult time.
