We came into Children’s Hospital earlier tonight. Aaron had suddenly developed necrotizing enterocolitis and was transferred here. He is not needing surgery at the moment, so that is very good news.
The air in his intestines seen on the x-rays seems to be staying inside the intestines, so they don't believe he has any holes/perforation right now. If any developed, he would need to be operated on.
For now, they are giving him antibiotics, he is off of milk feedings for at least 14 days, he is getting fluids/electrolytes through an IV, and they are monitoring his every move continuously.
We are staying over tonight in a sleep room.
I don't have my computer (am posting this from the hospital's terminal) with our email list, so I will only be able to post updates this way tonight.
We are so thankful that he has access to the highest-level care here at Children's. His team seems experienced, knowledgeable, caring, and on top of every detail.
Thank you for your love and prayers. He has been a fighter all along, defying the odds, so keep sending him strength and courage so he does not even think about getting tired!
