Made it through the night

He is fighting hard!  It was a long night, but here are some updates:

--They put him on a "jet vent" to more gently help him vent out CO2, and that seems to be working.
--His pH is still too low but was increasing very incrementally.  This can affect how well the other organs function.
--They are preparing to give him a blood transfusion in the next hour, and this will help with his red blood cell count, which is low.
--The 4am x-ray did not show any perforation (holes) in his intestine, which would be evidenced by the presence of air outside of the intestine.  So right now the air is contained within the intestine.  This is really the major thing we're all waiting for progress reports of, and they will be doing an x-ray every 8 hours for at least the next day, or until things really start improving.  The next one will be at noon.
--He as a full head of hair, which we are able to see now that he's not wearing a hat all the time, and we can also see his whole face because he doesn't have the CPAP on anymore.  He's a pretty handsome little guy.

Alison is in good hands and had a sleepover at Baylah's (her hero and "big sister") house last night.  She had trouble falling asleep, understandably, but both of them were still sleeping when we checked in around 8:15am this morning.

As for us, we're going to try to grab a couple hours of sleep now while they are transfusing him and then one of us will be here throughout the day.  I'll keep posting updates when we have them.
